How to stay protected as a blogger with AVG Antivirus

Due to the sheer amount that I spend travelling, I often find myself blogging on coaches or on apps I found on my phone, and frankly, it's a tad dodgy. So you can imagine how chuffed I was when I came across a free antivirus app called AVG Antivirus - which I've already fallen completely in love with.

I have only been using it for a short time, but so far I’ve been able to do so much. Like, I’ve been able to check the vulnerability of the wi-fi I use, hide sensitive photos so that only I have access to them (meaning that if I pass my phone to someone to show them a hilarious meme they won’t swipe to find photos of my face edited next to a photo of Dev Patel), block calls from certain numbers (goodbye PPI claims!), boost RAM - and have control over how fast the battery runs out.

If you get your phone stolen or lost, you can track and control your phone, which is worth the download in itself. Also, it takes history-free web browsing to a whole new level as it not only leaves no history but also has no saved data, no cookies, and colour code alerts to warn you of malicious sites. One of the best things is that it also helps speed up your phone, by safely removing data from apps and killing background tasks.

If you go Pro (£6.49 a year), you can also password-protect sensitive apps, set a camera trap to see who has your phone at any given time, and lock the device if the SIM is replaced.

Basically, the app is brilliant, and means that I can blog happy, knowing that my device is secure and protected - whilst being completely hassle-free.

To contact AVG, you can easily visit their site at AVG.com, and can download the app at AVG Antivirus.

  1. Being able to track and control your phone from a distance sounds absolutely ideal - ahh, what a nightmare to have anything at all stolen while travelling. Eek! Hope you have a lovely weekend Amy :)

  13. After taking a web security module in college last year and with this latest cyber attack I think I'm almost paranoid enough to start using some sort of antivirus software for blogging. I hope AVG Antivirus paid you well for this advertising :L hehe

  17. Oh I've used AVG for my computer before but had no idea that the mobile app had so many features on it! Something I'm going to have to check out. I like that you can hide photos - no-one needs to see all my instagram photos of my outfits when I hand them my phone to scroll through some cute photos of my toddlers haha!

Thanks for sharing the app and how you use it.

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend! :)
